10 Amazing and Simple Campfire Recipes

I don’t know about your family, but mine loves camping.  Even little Bee loves it!

We took her camping for the first time this Memorial Day weekend.  She had so much fun crawling around in the dirt and hiking (while I did a lot of baby wearing) through the woods in search of mushrooms.  Naps and nights weren’t as easy or smooth as they are at home, but that’s to be expected.

I’m always on the lookout for new, simple camping recipes that won’t break the bank.  The keyword here is simple.  I don’t want to have to put a lot of effort into making some fancy meal while we are roughing it in the middle of nowhere!  Today I decided to spend a little time on Pinterest searching for new recipes.  Here are 10 of the best I found!

1 – Cajun-Style Grill Foil Packet by Favorite Family Recipes
I don’t usually go this “fancy” when we camp (I can’t say we’ve ever eaten anything in this packet while sleeping in a tent!), but it would be really easy to make and I bet it tastes delicious!  Obviously I would toss it over the fire rather than putting it on the BBQ.  The only issue might be making sure your potatoes are cooked all the way through.  I know cooking can vary greatly over a campfire!  I think it’s safe to assume this recipe isn’t as inexpensive as my usual camping recipes, though.

2 – Campfire Cinnamon Roll-ups by Almost Super Mom
I absolutely love cinnamon rolls… I never knew I could have them while camping, too!  What a genius idea!  Totally trying this the next time we camp.

3 – Three Ingredient Blackberry Campfire Cobbler by Just 2 Sisters
This looks so good!  I’ve made something very similar to this in a crock pot, but never thought of making it in a dutch oven.  How deliciously clever!

4 – Camping Quesadillas by Cupcake Diaries
Hubby is a huge fan of quesadillas.  He makes them at home every chance he gets and orders one every time we go to Taco Bell.  He would be so excited if I packed these for a dinner on our next camping trip!

5 – Ultimate Breakfast Burritos by Self Proclaimed Foodie
Another one of Hubby’s favorites: breakfast burritos.  I’ve made them and thrown them in the freezer for later consumption, but never thought about putting them in foil for an easy camping breakfast.  I really don’t understand why I have never thought of this before!

6 – Camping Mac n’ Cheese by Lauren’s Latest
Does anyone not like Mac n’ Cheese?  Well, I know everyone in my family loves it!  I’m pretty sure just about every child in America loves it.  That makes this recipe a definite win!

7 – Campfire Cones by Hip2Save
I cannot wait for Bee to get older so that I have a legitimate excuse to try these!  They look so yummy and I bet kids would have a ton of fun making these before camping and then putting them over the campfire to cook the first night there!

8 – Campfire Chili Cheese Fries by The Kitchen Magpie
Now this is right up my alley.  I love chili.  I love fries.  I love campfire foil packets.  This is a must have for my next camping trip!

9 – Dutch Oven Deep Dish Pizza by Cookin and Craftin
I’m not a big pizza fan, but I know the majority of Americans are!  Between the sheer popularity of pizza and the creativity of this recipe, I have to share it.  I never would have guessed you could make pizza in a dutch oven while camping!

10 – The Very Best Dutch Oven Breakfast by Happy Money Saver
This looks like a really easy way to make a full breakfast while camping!  Sausage, hash browns, eggs, biscuits and cheese all in one dutch oven!

Hubby, Bee and I are going to be camping in just a few weeks and I’ll let you know which recipes we tried and how they turned out once we get back!
