The following is a sponsored post. Although I am being reimbursed for this post, all opinions are mine and my monetary gain has in no way affected how I feel about product testing companies.
Have you ever looked at the reviews for an item on Amazon and noticed the comments saying something like “I received this item at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review” or “I received this item for free in exchange for my review“?
I have and I always used to wonder how, exactly, one does something like that. Do you contact Amazon directly? Do they reach out to you because you always leave reviews? Do you need to get in touch with the manufacturer of the product? How does it all work?
Recently I stumbled across the answer: product testing companies.
There are tons of companies out there that offer their testers deeply discounted and sometimes free products. All they ask is that you leave an honest review of the product on Amazon.
It’s sort of a win-win for everyone involved. You get the product at an amazing price and the product receives another review on Amazon, making it more likely that someone will purchase it.
The process it really simple, too. Here’s how it works:
- Register with the website of your choice.
- Browse through their product offers. Although ever website is different, most sites don’t allow you to review more than 3 products at a time, so choose wisely.
- Once you’ve found something you want to test, let the website know. They will give you a coupon code to use on Amazon.
- There will be a button on your screen that sends you straight to the product on Amazon. Click on it, head over to Amazon and add the product to your cart.
- Use the coupon code when you checkout. Purchase the product and wait for it to arrive.
- Once it shows up, use it! Test it out, get a feel for it. Make sure you are familiar with it.
- Head over to Amazon and leave your review of the product.
- Inform the product testing website that you left a review. After they have confirmed, you’re free to test a new product!
Like I said, easy to do. Especially considering you’re going to end up with a greatly discounted product! This is something that I have personally tried doing a few times, but sort of fell off the bandwagon when a cork screw I ordered was lost in shipping. I’m not sure why, but after that I never ordered another product through one of the many product testing websites out there.
I planning to return to this, though. I’ve recently joined a few different websites and have been browsing though their offers. I won’t be testing a product unless it’s something we actually want, or more likely need, to buy. I don’t feel very comfortable spending any amount of money on something that isn’t a necessity right now.
Product testing may not be for everyone, but if it’s something you’re interested in, here’s a list of 5 of my favorite product testing websites:
This is a website that I personally belong to. This is a relatively new company based out of England, but they have a great selection of products and their location doesn’t have any impact on my ability to order items. You can narrow your options down a bit by letting them know what country you live in.
I’m also a member of this website. Snagshout is one of the oldest product testing website out there, so you know it’s legit. You have to work your way up to review more than one product at a time, though. When you first register, you are allowed to “snag” 1 deal. Once you’ve tested the product and left your review, you can snag 2 deals. Test and review those two and you’ll be able to snag 3 deals. Three is the max, though. You can’t review more than 3 products at a time.
Previously known as AMZ Review Trader, this company also has a long history. The name change is very recent, having occurred in December of 2016. This site has a very large collection of products and I’ve definitely seen items I’m interested in, but I have not yet ordered anything through them.
This site is a bit different. When you sign up with them, they send the offers straight to your inbox. No browsing, no website to look through. Personally, I prefer being able to look for items myself, but the items are so deeply discounted (80% off) that I had to include it in my top 5 list.
These guys have some great deals and awesome discounts! I spent some time looking through their site and it doesn’t look like you will find anything overly expensive on it. The most expensive product I saw was regularly $24.95, but you could purchase it for just 50 cents in exchange for your review!
Although I listed just 5 companies, there are tons of them out there. Here are a few other product testing companies that you might want to check out, too:
