Last month I was approached by a representative of Cave Tools. I was asked if I would be interested in receiving a free veggie grill basket in exchange for an honest review on my blog.
As it turns out, Cave Tools chose the perfect time to contact me. Hubby and I had just been talking about purchasing a veggie grill basket a few days earlier. So, although I wasn’t going to be reimbursed monetarily for my review, I agreed because it was a product I really wanted!
To be honest, I was scared of the quality of the product due to it’s price. I’ve never bought or used a grill basket before, so I had no real concept of what one should cost. I was worried $20 was a little too cheap.
I’ve used the basket 4 times so far and I am absolutely in love with it! We eat vegetables with every dinner and I really hate them. I still make sure I ingest a couple servings each evening, but it’s never really enjoyable. I’ve tried making veggies a lot of different ways, but I can now say that grilling them is my new favorite technique!

WHEN IT ARRIVED
I was really excited to open it when it showed up at my front door! Like I’ve already said, I have never owned a grill basket, so I had no idea what to expect.
There was a picture of the basket on the front of the box and I was happy with what I saw. I was even happier when I opened the box, though! This product is well built. Made entirely of stainless steel, it is thick and sturdy. I have no doubt it will have a long life.
The product included access to an online recipe book, but I was a bit disappointed with their selection of recipes. Although the book contains a lot of meat recipes, there was only one recipe for veggies. This is really what drove me to test this bad boy out and come up with my own recipe to share with my readers.
I have no complaints at all about it’s usability. I wasn’t sure what the best way to use it was, as I’ve never used a veggie basket before. After a little Googling, I tried the most recommended technique online: before lighting your BBQ, place the basket on the grill. Allow your basket to heat up with the BBQ.
While it heated up, I prepared my veggies. Once it was nice and hot, I took the veggies outside and placed them in the basket. I turned the veggies every 5 minutes or so and it seemed to take about 20 minutes for the veggies to cook over medium heat.
I really like the handles on the basket. They make it very easy to grab the basket with a pair of pot holders or oven mits. Just make sure whatever hand protection you use is heavy! This thing gets really hot!
One word: DELICIOUSNESS!
I love the flavor the grill adds to the veggies, all thanks to this basket. My old favorite way to cook veggies was in the oven, but that is now a thing of the past! I’m excited to experiment with grilling different veggies all summer long.
